THIS IS A BRAND MEDICATION
THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS:
CHLORINE-TRIMETON * Repetabs Tablets is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, vasomotor rhinitis allergic conjunctivitis allergic cutaneous angioedema uncomplicated, treatment of hypersensitivity reactions by transfusion of blood or plasma. Is also indicated for the treatment of anaphylactic reactions together with epinephrine and other measures of rigor after controlling the acute.
CHLORINE-TRIMETON * Tablets Repetabs often relieves skin conditions like eczema atopic dermatitis allergic contact dermatitis and insect bites dermographism drug hypersensitivity reactions.
Contraindications
It is a contraindication for use hypersensitivity to any component of chloro-TRIMETON * Repetabs Tablets or other antihistamines with similar chemical structure. In patients receiving treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitors in patients with narrow angle glaucoma stenosing peptic ulcer pyloroduodenal obstruction obstruction of prostatic hypertrophy and bladder neck cardiovascular disease and hypertension or in those with increased intraocular pressure under- 12 years.
PRECAUTIONS:
Since drowsiness may occur with the use of chloro-TRIMETON * Repetabs Tablets should warn patients not to participate in activities requiring mental alertness such as driving a car or operate machinery equipment etc. while on treatment with chloro-TRIMETON * Repetabs Tablets.
Use in Pregnancy and Lactation
Not established the safety of administering this drug during pregnancy. Not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy. It is not known whether the ingredients are excreted in human milk.
However as it is known that certain antihistamines are eliminated by this route should be exercised when this drug is administered to patients who are breastfeeding.
ADVERSE REACTIONS:
The side effect most often observed with the use of chlorpheniramine maleate is drowsiness. Other possible side effects include gastrointestinal neurological cardiovascular effects hematologic genitourinary and respiratory systems.
Have been reported general side effects such as hives rashes drug hypersensitivity anaphylactic shock photosensitivity chills sweating dry mouth, nose and throat.
The sympathomimetic effects include CNS depression anxiety fear anxiety insomnia seizures tremors dizziness headache flushing dizziness weakness shortness of breath sweating paleness muscle cramps anorexia nausea vomiting dysuria polyuria spasm of the sphincter urinary retention. Cardiovascular effects associated with hypertension include palpitations, tachycardia chlorphenamine arrhythmias anginal pain and cardiovascular shock.
DRUG INTERACTIONS AND OTHER GENDER:
The monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors prolong and intensify the effects of antihistamines, severe hypotension may occur. Concomitant use of antihistamines with alcohol, barbiturates, tricyclic antidepressants or other CNS depressants may increase the sedative effect of chlorpheniramine maleate. The effect of oral anticoagulants can be inhibited by antihistamines.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
Dose: The dose should be individualized according to the needs and patient response.
CHLORINE-TRIMETON * Tablets Repetabs adults and children 12 years and over: 1 tablet of chloro-TRIMETON * Repetabs Tablets (8 mg) every 8 to 10 hours not to exceed 3 tablets in 24 hours or one tablet of chloro-TRIMETON * Repetabs tablets (12 mg) every 12 hours but not more than 2 tablets in 24 hours.
Route of administration: Oral.
REPRESENTATIONS AND MANAGEMENT Overdosage:
In cases of overdose should be started immediately for emergency treatment.
Symptoms: The effects of overdose with antihistamines may vary from central nervous system depression (sedation apnea alteration of consciousness cardiovascular shock) to death. Other signs and symptoms may include dizziness, tinnitus, ataxia, blurred vision and hypotension. Stimulation is particularly likely in children and are the signs and symptoms similar to those caused by atropine (dry mouth flushing mydriatic pupils fixed and hyperthermia and gastrointestinal symptoms). Sympathomimetic drugs in high doses can lead to dizziness headache nausea vomiting sweating, palpitations, chest pain, tachycardia, thirst, difficulty urinating muscle weakness and anxiety stress anxiety and insomnia. Many patients can present a toxic psychosis with delusions and hallucinations. Some may develop cardiac arrhythmias, circulatory shock seizures coma and respiratory failure.
Treatment: It must be to absorb any amount of drug listed in the stomach by administering activated charcoal as a slurry in water. Should consider conducting gastric lavage. The physiological saline is the vehicle of choice for gastric lavage especially in children. In adults, tap water can be used, but before the next instillation First remove the greatest volume of fluid administered previously. The treatment of the signs and symptoms of overdose is symptomatic and supportive. Do not use stimulant medications (analeptic). Vasoconstrictors may be administered for the treatment of hypotension. Short-acting barbiturates diazepam or paraldehyde may be administered to control seizures. Hyperpyrexia, especially in children may need treatment with a sponge bath with lukewarm water or a hyperthermic blanket. Apnea is treated with respirator
