THIS IS A BRAND MEDICATION

CAUTIONS:
General: Although there is no evidence of rebound seizures with gabapentin, the sudden interruption in the administration of anticonvulsant drugs in epileptic patients may cause status epilepticus (see DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION.)
In general, gabapentin is not considered to be useful for the treatment of absence seizures.
Patients who received concomitant treatment with morphine may experience increases in the concentration of gabapentin. Patients should be watched carefully because of signs of central nervous system depression, drowsiness, and the dose of gabapentin or morphine should be reduced appropriately.
Effects on ability to drive motor vehicles or use machines Patients should be advised not to drive or use potentially dangerous machinery until you know if this medication does not affect your ability to perform these activities.
RESTRICTIONS OF USE DURING PREGNANCY AND LACTATION:
Pregnancy: There have been no adequate and well controlled studies in pregnant women. Therefore, this drug should only be used during pregnancy if the potential benefit to the patient justifies the potential risk to the fetus (see PRECAUTIONS in relation to terms of carcinogenicity, mutagenicity, teratogenicity and fertility, teratogenesis).
Breast-feeding: Gabapentin is excreted in human milk. Due to the unknown effect on the infant, caution should be exercised when gabapentin is administered to mothers during lactation. Gabapentin should only be used in nursing mothers when the benefits to the mother clearly outweigh the risks to the child.
