THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS: FLOXSTAT * (ofloxacin) is a fluorinated quinolone new generation. It is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial drug antibacterial with high activity against most gram-negative bacterial species, many of the gram-positive and some anaerobic.
The results of clinical studies have been carried out FLOXSTAT * (ofloxacin), have confirmed its therapeutic potential in curing a wide range of infections, in which both the profile of antibacterial and pharmacokinetic advantages justify its indication asantimicrobial.
FLOXSTAT * (ofloxacin), has proven effective to eliminate a large percentage of infections caused by gram-negative organisms such as Citrobacter spp, Enterobacter, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Morganella, Proteus, Salmonella, Serratia, Shigella, Yersinia, Acinetobacter, Neisseria gonorrhoeae and meningitidis, Haemophilus influenzae, Legionella, Chlamydia and Pseudomonas, Gram-positive as streptococci (group A, B, C and G), Streptococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Staphylococcus aureus), Listeria monocytogenes and Mycobacterium tuberculosis and anaerobic bacteria such as Bacteroides , Clostridium and Fusobacterium.
FLOXSTAT * (ofloxacin) is a broad-spectrum antibiotic indicated for the treatment of the following infections:
- Infections of the kidney and genitourinary tract.
- Sexually transmitted diseases.
- Infections of the abdominal cavity, including the pelvis.
- Respiratory tract infections.
- Infections of the skin and soft tissue.
- Bacterial diarrhea.
- Prostatitis.
The mechanism of action of FLOXSTAT * (ofloxacin) is the inhibition of DNA gyrase enzyme present in those bacteria that are causes of infectious diseases as diverse as pneumonia, acute bronchitis, chronic bronchitis, infected bronchiectasis, infections, chronic respiratory diseases added , pharyngitis, laryngitis, pyelonephritis, cystitis, prostatitis, epididymitis, gonococcal and nongonococcal urethritis, folliculitis, furunculosis, erysipelas, boils, lymphangitis, lymphadenitis, perianal abscess, superficial secondary infections or trauma, burns or surgery, cholecystitis, cholangitis, otitis media , sinusitis, blepharitis, dacryocystitis, bacillary dysentery, enteritis, etc., against which FLOXSTAT * has proved highly effective.
Its clinical efficacy has been demonstrated in a variety of systemic infections, as well as acute and chronic urinary tract infections, usually being higher than antibacterial drugs with which it was compared.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: FLOXSTAT * (ofloxacin) should not be administered to patients with a history of hypersensitivity to ofloxacin or other quinolone or under 18 years.
CAUTIONS: Because FLOXSTAT * (ofloxacin) is mainly excreted renally, dosage should be adjusted in patients with impaired renal function.
RESTRICTIONS OF USE DURING PREGNANCY AND LACTATION: FLOXSTAT * (ofloxacin) should not be administered to pregnant or lactating.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: The dose for FLOXSTAT * (ofloxacin), which is usually recommended is 200 to 400 mg every 12/24 hours
