Facelift 500mg 20 Caps, Cephalexin
INDICATIONS: Cephalexin is indicated for the treatment of the following infections caused by susceptible strains of the designated microorganisms:
Respiratory tract infections.
Bacterial sinusitis.
Otitis media.
Infections of the skin and soft tissues.
Infections of the bones and joints.
Genitourinary tract infections, including acute prostatitis.
Dental infections.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Cephalexin is contraindicated in patients with known allergy to the cephalosporin group of antibiotics.
PRECAUTIONS: Before instituting treatment with cephalexin, determine if the patient has previously experienced hypersensitivity reactions to cephalosporins and penicillins. Cephalexin should be administered with caution in patients allergic to penicillin.
There is some clinical and laboratory evidence of partial cross-allergy between penicillins and cephalosporins. Some patients have experienced severe reactions (including anaphylaxis) to both types of drugs.
There have been reports of pseudomembranous colitis with almost all broad spectrum antibiotics.
It is important to consider the diagnosis in patients with diarrhea in association with antibiotic use.
Prolonged use of cephalexin may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible. If during treatment superinfection occurs, appropriate measures should be taken.
Cephalexin should be administered with caution to patients with severe renal impairment.
Analysis should be performed careful clinical and laboratory, as appropriate daily dose may be lower than the usually recommended dose.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: Cephalexin is administered orally.
Adults: The adult dosage ranges from 1-4 g daily in divided doses. The usual adult dose is 250 mg every 6 hours. For the following infections may be given a dose of 500 mg every 12 hours, if the patient is older than 15 years: strep throat, skin infections and soft tissue infections and uncomplicated cystitis.
In cystitis treatment should be continued for 7 to 14 days. In more severe infections or those caused by less susceptible organisms, larger doses may be required. When required daily doses over 4 g of cephalexin should consider administering any of the appropriate dose injectable cephalosporins.
Children: The usual recommended dose for children is 25 to 50 mg / kg per day in divided doses. The total daily dose can be fractionated and administered every 12 hours for strep throat in children over one year of age in mild infections and complicated urinary tract infections and skin and soft tissue.
