12 hr Clavipen 125mg 875mg 10 Tabs, Clavulanic acid, Amoxicillin
THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS: AUGMENTIN ® is a broad-spectrum antibiotic against pathogens most commonly encountered in general practice and also in the hospital.
The action of clavulanate enlarged the spectrum of amoxicillin to include many strains resistant to other antibiotics. AUGMENTIN ® is recommended for most common bacterial infections, such as:
- Upper respiratory tract infections (including ear, nose and throat), for example:
Recurrent tonsillitis.
Sinusitis.
Otitis media.
- Lower respiratory tract infections, for example:
Acute and chronic bronchitis.
Acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis.
Lobar pneumonia and bronchopneumonia.
- Genitourinary tract infections, for example:
Cystitis.
Urethritis (gonococcal).
Pyelonephritis.
Infections caused by organisms sensitive to amoxicillin are susceptible to treatment with AUGMENTIN ®, due to its amoxicillin content.
Mixed infections caused by organisms sensitive to amoxicillin, along with microorganisms producing beta-lactamase sensitive to AUGMENTIN ® can therefore be treated with AUGMENTIN ®.
Hypersensitivity to penicillins or any component of the formula.Special care should be a possible cross-sensitivity with other beta-lactam antibiotics, eg cephalosporins. History of jaundice / hepatic dysfunction associated with AUGMENTIN ® or penicillin.
PRECAUTIONS: Reactions Serious and occasionally fatal hypersensitivity (anaphylactoid) reactions have been reported in patients treated with penicillin. It is more likely that these reactions occur in individuals with a history of penicillin hypersensitivity
