THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS:
Sixol * is indicated for the relief of inflammation of acute gouty arthritis.
Particularly preferred for prophylaxis of recurrent episodes of gouty arthritis and is effective in preventing acute Mediterranean fever attacks and may have a slight beneficial effect in sarcoid arthritis. Aid in the treatment of liver cirrhosis. Sixola * also used to combat various skin diseases including psoriasis and Beh syndrome? Et.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Sixol * is contraindicated in patients with renal failure, gastrointestinal disorders, liver and heart.
Sixol * not be administered during pregnancy and lactation.
CAUTIONS: The leukopenic and thrombocytopenic effects of colchicine can result in increased incidence of microbial infection, delayed healing and gingival bleeding.
If leukopenia or thrombocytopenia appears dental work should be deferred until blood counts have returned to normal and the patient should be instructed in proper oral hygiene, including caution in the use of brushes, dental floss and toothpicks.
Geriatric patients may be more sensitive to the cumulative toxicity of colchicine.
Potentially large amounts of alcohol may increase the risk of gastrointestinal toxicity.
RESTRICTIONS OF USE DURING PREGNANCY AND LACTATION: Colchicine can cause fetal harm by interfering with cell division and therefore should not be administered during pregnancy. Not widely known during lactation effects so you should consider the risk-benefit ratio.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: Oral.
Initial dose: 1 tablet is suggested every two hours to a maximum of 6 in 24 hours.
Maintenance Dose: 1 tablet 2 to 3 times a day.
