THIS IS A BRAND MEDICATION
ALOSOL ® is a topical antimicrobial for the treatment of oropharyngeal infections by gram-positive or gram-negative sensitive germs. It is indicated in stomatitis, gingivitis, pre- and postoperative disinfection in dental and oral surgery.
PHARMACOKINETICS AND PHARMACODYNAMICS: ALOSOL ® combines the bactericidal action of two antibiotics that exert their effect in infectious processes of bacterial origin, with a local anesthetic. Neomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic, active against a wide variety of gram-positive and gram-negative bacterial pathogens, which inhibits the synthesis of proteins by binding to the 30S ribosomal unit of the bacterium. Polymyxin B is a bactericidal antibiotic that acts on a large number of gram-positive and gram-negative germs, altering the permeability of the bacterial cytoplasmic membrane. The anesthetic properties of lidocaine help to considerably reduce the discomfort of oropharyngeal affections. Unlike para-aminobenzoic acid derivatives, lidocaine lacks allergenic effects.
The application of polymyxin B to mucous membranes does not produce systemic reactions due to their almost complete lack of absorption from these sites.
The topical absorption of neomycin is also insufficient to cause systemic effects.
Local anesthetics are rapidly absorbed into the circulation after topical application to the mucous membranes. Only 3% of oral lidocaine appears in plasma because of its extensive first-pass metabolism.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Hypersensitivity to components of the formula or cross-sensitizing substances such as gentamicin, framicetin or kanamycin. Untreated mycotic infections.
PRECAUTIONS: Because prolonged use of ALOSOL ® can modify the oral bacterial flora, promoting the growth of non-susceptible organisms and fungi, it is recommended not to exceed the dose or the period of treatment.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: Holding the bottle upright, apply 1 or 2 consecutive sprays of ALOSOL ® every half hour until the symptomatic improvement is achieved; Then a nebulization every hour or several hours, depending on the evolution of the condition.
STORAGE RECOMMENDATIONS:
