THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS: OVULES Canesten ® V is a broad-spectrum antifungal vulvovaginal infections by fungi and yeasts (especially Candida albicans), Candida glabrata, Trichomonas vaginalis, yeast colpitis and / or trichomonas. In the case of Canesten ® V Cream can be used also in patients with Candida balanitis. In vaginitis occurring with dry preferably recommended the administration of eggs or cream, and to relieve itching, burning or irritation to external genitalia (vulva) associated with vaginal infection.
Pharmacokinetics in Humans: Under appropriate test conditions, the minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) for dermatophytes, yeasts and molds are at levels of 0.0642 to 4 mg / l. The type of action is primarily fungistatic, although dermatophytes and Candida spp are fungicidal effects from higher concentrations of 10-20 mg / l. Canesten ®, in vitro, also shows antibacterial properties against Gram-positive cocci and corynebacteria with MIC values ​​between 0.5-10 mg / l and 100 mg / l tricomonicida effect.
Canesten ® investigations with radioactively labeled with 14C, administered as 100 mg vaginal tablet gave a vaginal absorption between 3 and 10% of the administered dose.
